Five Years On...

We must remember today; for 5 years ago our world changed. 2,973 civilians lost their lives in the attack on the World Trade Centre. It is our duty to pay respect to those so suddenly taken. They should always be remembered; we must never forget.
And yet we must also pay respect to those 72,000 civilians killed world-wide in the name of America's "war on terror'. These casualties will have no memorial service; Many will not even have a decent burial.

5 years into this war and what have we seen? Well we have seen Decisiveness when America lead the fight into Afghanistan in the bid to capture those responsible for 9/11. We have seen Determination in our bid to crackdown on terrorist money laundering operations, making its much harder to fund new terrorist attacks. We have seen Vigilance in the security services, protecting our scores. Finally we have seen Courage; in our civilians, and our soldiers.

However this war has brought out the dark side in our humanity, as well as theirs. We haves seen Imperialism and Tyranny as the US and the UK launch a illegal war against Iraq; which has killed 46,307 people to date, and instead of destroying Al-Quaida has provided a self-haven and plenty of new Jihadi recruits. We have seen Brutality by America troops as they indiscriminately slaughter women and children. We have seen Torture; in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo; where America, the crusader of human rights, so horrifically treats the inmates. We have seen Racial and Religious intolerance as muslims everywhere are now targets to be abused, physically, mentally and verbally.

We have seen Death and Destruction, Blood and Rubble; a People divided; a World falling apart. We have seen too much Suffering, we have seen War. 5 years ago the hijackers changed our world. Now we must again change the world. We must step back from war, it holds no answers. We must stand together as brothers and seek the solution. We must changed our ways, and they theirs.

If we do not, there will not be a memorial big enough, a society whole enough, or a people strong enough to mourn our world that was so violently torn asunder.

How is it illegal? 17 UN Resolution violations plus the original cease-fire agreement which is different from signing a peace treaty. At what point do you enforce "the law"? Congress passed the Iraq Use of Force Resolution.

which has killed 46,307 people to date,

How many more innocent lives would have been ruined by the status quo of "containment"? Especially since the French were actively working toward helping Saddam have sanctions lifted. Have you read any of the Saddam documents? He was clearly a danger to the world. Like a metasticizing cancerous cell, you would have us not act before the threat became imminent. The number you threw out would then pale in comparison to the number of lives lost had we not acted so aggressively.

and instead of destroying Al-Quaida has provided a self-haven and plenty of new Jihadi recruits.

I'm sure if it hadn't been for the Iraq war, guys like Zarqawi would just be peaceably pushing a falafel stand somewhere. If Iraq has become a roach motel, so be it. Tell me who is responsible for most of the civilian deaths? The U.S.? What about those who are purposely targeting the civilian populace?

Proof, please? Why is it, that you provide no links to any of your posts? Where do you pull this stuff out from? I take great offense to your slander of our military.
